Cynthia Hernandez Soukkala
Cynthia Hernandez Soukkala is the President and CEO of Soukkala Law. She is a highly skilled and aggressive defense attorney that will fight for her clients rights and liberties. Her cases have included every type of misdemeanor and felony including: DUI, NVDL, Domestic Battery, Theft, Trafficking, Conspiracy, Robbery, Burglary, Mortgage Fraud, Securities Fraud, RICO, Capital Sexual Battery and Murder.
Mrs. Hernandez Soukkala is a first generation Panamanian-American and native of Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Tampa Technical High School in Tampa, Florida and received a full scholarship to attend the University of South Florida. She received a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs with a concentration in French language. Ms. Hernandez Soukkala worked for the State Department after college as a program assistant and French linguist for the Fulbright Scholarship in Washington D.C. After working in Washington Ms. Hernandez Soukkala became interested in politics and law and pursued a law degree at the Florida State University College of Law.
Cynthia previously worked as a Clerk for the Department of Financial Services in Tallahassee in the Insurance Regulation division. She later worked as a certified intern for the State Attorney’s Office in Hillsborough County as a prosecutor. Understanding that she has a passion for defense work, she worked as a Public Defender in Pinellas County with an unprecedented winning trial record and leading the office in Pinellas County for the most trials. Her vast knowledge and experience helped her receive an invitation to teach criminal law at the University of Tampa as an Adjunct Professor. She then opened her own office and expanded her legal practice to include Federal Defense, Immigration, Family, Bankruptcy and Personal Injury cases.
Mrs. Hernandez Soukkala volunteers her time and skills at the University of South Florida Legal Aid department to help students with legal issues or immigration questions. She has conducted multiple seminars at the University of Tampa discussing many aspects of criminal law with question and answer sessions for students. She has also worked with Are You Safe, a non profit organization that provides legal representation for persons who are victims of domestic violence during injunction hearings.
She has practiced in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Miami-Dade, Leon, Orange, Citrus, Marion, Osceola, Martin, Escambia, Jefferson, Hernando, Sarasota, Lake, Polk and Monroe counties.
Mrs. Soukkala is admitted to practice in the State of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
